I would not risk it personally. The 03 and 04 year models were notorious for transmission failures (due to the aforementioned coolant/tranny fluid liquid-liquid heat exchanger issues).
Furthermore, GM/Saab will be laughing all the way to the bank as they listen to your cries as you shell out anywhere from $3000 - $4000 to replace/rebuild the transmission ...
They are attractive cars, but in the words of a GM employee I know (who scolded me after buying one), "The least reliable models that GM makes!"
First, the input/output speed sensor on the tranny will fail (due to moisture exposure on the coils I guess) ... then the other (input or output) will fail. Then your transmission will simply begin to slip leaving you stranded on the side of the road.
If the service records show either of those two items being replaced on the tranny then keep on shopping (unless the transmission was replaced or rebuilt. By the time these failures occur it is too late to do anything about the current tranny unit. It WILL die on you!
