Sounds like the syptoms you get with low oil level. Like John says, the oil reservoir/pump is located on the right side of the trunk. You have to remove the right inner trunk panel to see it.
If it is low, you will need to check for leaks. Last week I had one in the shop with a leaking header latch cylinder. Of all the cylinders to leak, this is the worst one because when it leaks it gets the headliner wet with oil.
