Any E85 tunes for the 2.0T? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 14 Oct 2010 07:08:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Since there appears to be a strong likelihood that Washington will approve E15 fuel for all vehicles built since 2007, and gas stations have limited quantities of tanks and pumps, and I own two pre-2007 vehicles, I may find myself in a bit of a pickle.
I know E85 tunes are available for my 2000 9-5. Although spending hundreds of dollars for a new ECU in a 10 year old vehicle initially sounds foolish, not doing this will drop my car's usefullness quotient (and market value) to zero.
What about the 2.0T in my wife's 2006 9-3SC?. Suddenly supplanting E10 fuel with E15 fuel in most gas stations, with an engine which is not tuned for its use, could be financially disastrous. Installing an E85 tune in it may be the best solution.
Of course, maybe the Gov't won't approve E15. But the agricultural lobby seems to still have a lot of power, and this will be argued to result in a reduction in imported oil (nevermind the fuel efficiency decreases).
