Turbo problem

I have an 04' 93 ARC automatic, this being my first Saab I'm still learning the 2.0t It's been a great car for the most part, there are the little problems which are expected, but I'm stumped on my turbo problem.

The car drives great, quick and responsive except when I punch it to pass or to merge onto the freeway, it's fine if I switch over to manual mode and downshift, but if I leave it in drive it will "buck" or cut out when the turbo hits the redline, which I assume is a good thing since I'm guessing it's a safety feature to save the turbo. I'm not sure if it's something as simple as the Mass airflow sensor or if it has something to do with the transmission not correctly downshifting or if something is wrong with the turbo not boosting correctly, but it just started doing it last week.

If anyone can help me out I would be grateful, I like working on my own cars, and have access to a lift, but I'm more familiar with BMW's since that's what I've owned in the past.
