SC Alignment Specs Posted by sondeen [Email] (#796) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sondeen) on Thu, 9 Dec 2010 08:09:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a question regarding what alignment spec to use for my 2006 9-3 SC. I had it aligned last week at my independent mechanic. The machine they use, the "visa-liner", provides a printout of the alignemnt specs for each wheel, the before value, and the after value, which the shop gives to me after they are done.
The alignemnt spec they used, printed on the alignment printout, was for a 2006 9-2 Aero X. Last year when they aligned it they used the 9-3 sedan spec. The spec values are quite different between the two.
I noticed the 9-2 spec on my paperwork a few days later, and brought it back to the shop, and asked them why they don't use a consistent spec from year to year. They checked their machine, and the database does not have a 9-3 SC listed, it says use 9-2 specs, so that is what the tech used. My shop owner said the 9-3 SC has a front end of a 9-3 sedan, but a rear suspension like a 9-2. This made no sense to me, as I though the 9-2 was based on a Subaru chassis. The shop owner thought is was better to go with a 9-3 sedan spec and made the adjustments for me.
Can anyone comment on the rear suspension set-up on the SC? Is it like the sedan, or like the 9-2? What are the proper specs to follow to align the SC? Thanks, Mark
