I recently test drove several 9-3 SS models and found the V6 to sound really awesome but lag a bit in responsiveness until the autobox found the right gear and the turbo spooled up - then watch out! Yikes. However I couldn't get it over 25 mpg on a freeway drive which was a bit disappointing.

The 2.0T 6 speed on the other hand is still very quick and feels like it wants to go "right now". Almost a "springy" feel, especially with the 6-speed manual tranny which I got. It also has an excellent ride/handling balance due to the lighter front end, gets better mpg and carries lower service costs.

I think the later 9-3 SS's are excellent cars in whatever configuration meets your needs - so set your priorities and have fun!
