Erratic Gas Gauge ('07 Aero SC) - Ideas?

The gas gauge on my '07 Aero SC has been acting up lately and I'm curious to find out why. For the last two fill ups soon as I'm done (no excessive topping off) and start the car the gas gauge plummets to empty and the gas light comes on. Then the needle jumps back and forth between empty and full over and over as I'm driving - hills, turns, starts/stops don't seem to have any effect, it appears to be random. After the first fill up it went away after a few minutes, but after yesterday's it's still going nuts. But through all this the SID is still accurate with the MPG and distance to empty, only the dash gauge is acting up.
Any ideas? Is my car going to blow up? Hopefully if something is wrong it's covered under the CPO...
Thanks!
-Adam
