1980-1993 are C900s or classic 900s, 1994 to 1998 were NG900's new generation 900's with a transverse engine. In 1999 essentially the same car, same body and drivetrain, got the 9-3 designation until 2002 in the sedans. In 2003 the sedans changed bodies and powertrain and were called 9-3SS or 9-3 sports sedans.

The verts seem to hang on one extra year in the older body style. So the 2003 Saab sedans are 9-3SS style and the 2003 verts were still the OG9-3.

There's a lot to like about the NG900 - OG9-3 cars.
