Not so much as the Outback

The old Outback, that is... seems to be raised just enough to keep the correct ground clearance, as the driveshaft lives where the exhaust is supposed to go, leaving the exhaust hanging out below the floor pan.
I drove one as a loaner from my dealer and really liked it. The standard 17" tires are a little higher profile than the Aero 17s, the extra height and suspension travel translates into a little more compliant ride without affecting the cornering, and the 6 speed a/t compensates for the AWD to minimize (or eliminate) the fuel economy penalty. Other than that, it's just like a 9-3 Combi, but with even better ice and snow performance (I suppose - I only drove it in July).
