I removed the entire stereo system (head, amplifier, speakers) from my 2010 9/3 2.0T, to replace it with a system I preferred. So now I have the original parts sitting on a shelf. The whole switch was done before the car was even driven off the lot, so the stereo's brand new, and I wouldn't mind seeing it go to a good home. Problem is, the head is not usable except with the car it came from because they're apparently coded only to work together (anti-theft measure.) I understand the heads can have the code removed, but only when they're still connected to the car(?) Is there a way to remove the coding from the head, so that it might be useful to someone, without having to uninstall my existing stereo temporarily and reconnect the head, and then connect a Tech2? Even if I can just skip the step of uninstalling the existing stereo, that'd be helpful; that is, is there's somewhere else on the wiring harness or something that I can temporarily connect the head, just for purposes of removing the antitheft code?
