I have an '06 9-3 SC while my daughter has a '00 9-5 SC. With the back seats up the cargo space in the 9-5 exceeds that of the 9-3 by quite a bit. Her two malamutes can both fit in the back of her wagon, while my two mals (offspring of her male) cannot. In order for me to travel with both dogs, I have to flatten out at least one of the back seats. It's more than volume for hauling these dogs, it's surface area for lie-down space. Winter trips to the snow with the dogs definitely put my Thule box (and Nokian WRG2) to good use.
