If I'm not mistaken, the alternators in the newer cars have one-way bearings so that when the engine slows down, the momentum of the alternator keeps it charging at a higher rate than if it slowed down with the engine. So, this one-way bearing could be on it's way out. But, I doubt if the bearing is replaceable, so that means a new or rebuilt alternator if the noise is too aggravating.
It might help to list the year, engine and miles on the car since I wouldn't expect a bearing failure on a low mileage car... Ron
