Electrical Gremlins Posted by Gremlin [Email] ![]() ![]() |
A friend drove my 2004 9-3 Aero through some sheets of water washing across the road during a heavy thunderstorm a little faster than she should have. Next day, the instrument panel lights up like a Christmas Tree and begins throwing all sorts of diagnostic failures when the switch was turned to on: Traction Control Failure, ESP Failure, Gearbox Malfunction. And, it would not turnover at all.
After waiting about 15-20 min, it started up but continued to say that the Gearbox was malfunctioning. We limped it home in 5th gear (I think). Later that evening, it began working normally again.
Several times since then it will just die in traffic and throw; in particular, the "Gearbox" malfunction indicatore when I try to start it. Again, after waiting 15 - 20 minutes it will start and run normally. But, it will usually continue to show the "Gearbox" malfunction indicator until I reset it.
Any ideas to help diagnose the problem will be helpful. Going to Autozone to see if they can read the failure codes.
