I have to GUESS here, but the "49" is probably the offset in mm. So 49mm offset, minus 15mm(spacer) is like a wheel with 34mm offset.

When I shop TireRack for 2007 9.3 aero vert, nothing smaller than 17" comes up. If I say it's not aero, then I get 16" wheels including MSW type-14 at 35mm offset. I've got those wheels & they work with 215/55-R16 stock 4-season tires (2009 sedan & 2010 combi). The 34mm offset puts the tire only 1mm further outboard, so it seems like it should work. I don't think the clearance is that close on my cars. Just remember don't go any bigger with snow tires next time around.
