Did you then program the HomeLink to your Garage Door Opener (GDO)?
Programming HomeLink with a "rolling-code" GDO is a two-step process.
First, you program the HomeLink to act like a handheld transmitter of the type your GDO uses (using the instructions in the car's OM), then you have to program the HomeLink to the GDO just like if you bought a new handheld transmitter from the home center store. See the instructions that came with your GDO or receiver add-on.
In a "rolling-code" system, the HomeLink does not become a "clone" of the handheld transmitter to be used interchangeably. Both the handheld unit and the HomeLink retain their identity as discrete devices to the GDO, and thus must be programmed individually.
Obs! - Be aware of any limitations of your GDO receiver. At my Mom's house, the add-on (to her ancient GDO) rolling code receiver has a limit of 7 devices. Program #8, and #1 "falls off". Between 3 keyfobs (Mom, Sister & Me), visor push-button transmitters (2) and two cars (Sister's BMW & my 9-5), all seven slots on Mom's are used up, so I can't add a second car with HomeLink. Some accessories, like wireless keypads can use up these "slots"...
