"work just as well as OEM"
I suggest comparing the beam pattern from OEM to the Chinese TYC units side by side. The TYC have a terrible beam, very unfocused compared to OE Saab units. A customer I quoted recently for two new OE halogen headlamps came and dropped their vehicle off for two days. They bought and self installed the TYC lights there is quite a difference.
However if you have trashed, cloudy and sandblasted original lights installing new aftermarket lights are probably a huge improvement. When the headlights get cloudy its worth just driving with your headlights off so when you hit something or someone you at least have a good reason for not seeing them in the road. Just take note the OE lights are quite a bit better than the aftermarket brand when comparing new units side by side.
