Sounds like a compression issue Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Mon, 21 Oct 2013 21:01:56 In Reply to: Morning Start, PlanMan, Mon, 21 Oct 2013 17:35:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Have a few customers cars doing it. All 08+ with over 80k miles. Thus far it has been cylinder 3 that has the pressure drop. One elected to fix and the rest have not. Based on what you've already done it is what I would point to. Easy to check compression when cold to see what the real picture is.
The head has to be sent out and the valve seats ground as well as new valves installed. Have been using the Intervalves brand thus far with good success. Made in Switzerland and the machine shop says they're some of the nicer ones they've seen.
If planning on keeping the car it may be worth it to get a high quality extended warranty for what the price of the repair would probably be.
