Hi Everyone,
I have been here and there on the 9000 board for a number of years so this is my first post on the 9-3 SS board.
I need some advice.
I currently have a 1995 9000 Aero Manual with 220,000 miles on it. The car will forever be know as "the best I ever owned". But there are so many pricy components on it that "don't owe me anything". Yes, those last two statements sound like something a veteran Russian Roulette player would say. That is exactly why I'm looking to push the car on to another enthusiast and pick up something newer.
The car I'm looking at is a 2008-2011 9-3 2.0T manual (preferably a Combi but SS works). I want the 4 cyl for MPG as i drive 500 freeway miles per week. I plan on tuning the ecu though (JZW or Vtuner) and swapping out the head unit for something a little more smartphone friendly.
I'm pretty familiar with turning my own wrenches but my question is what specific things should I look for when buying on of these cars. What parts tend to fail? What parts are hard to get? Seeing as 9-3's are being made again is it possible to access new parts?
Please throw me any tips you have as I always like to know way more about the vehicle I'm purchasing than the seller.
