And all that beef is in the floor and sides of the car, making the center of gravity much lower on the convertible. If you open both doors with the top down, you can look straight through the thing and it becomes much more apparent that all of the structural rigidity that gives it a 5-Star Top Pick crash test rating has to be hiding in the floor. On the Combi the roof, B, C, and D pillars help to distribute that structure, which may lend to the lighter/tinnier feel of the Combi.
