Before I bought mine, I asked my mechanics their impressions of the 2.8L V6, and they basically told me the same thing. The only thing they added was the they've had to replace several turbos for their customers but they attributed those to long oil change intervals. So I've been strict about keeping mine at no more than 5k mi.
You'll find a lot of brittle and broken plastic bits under the hood because it's a large engine in a small compartment with high under the hood temperatures. For example, the tabs have broken off my battery cover. Expect to replace your battery on a regular interval too.
The coolant reservoir tank will crack eventually due to its proximity to the turbo, and the coolant tank cap will probably leak before the tank cracks. I replaced my cap earlier this year because it was no longer holding a seal.
The brake fluid reservoir cap cover (the one next to the coolant reservoir) is prone to cracking. Some people buy a GS billet cap and transfer the innards over.
Lastly, people on another forum have been talking about oil thinning out in this engine, presumably because the engine runs hot, putting a lot of stress on the oil. The only used oil analysis I've done on this car had suggested that my used oil was on the thin side...
But mine's a hoot to drive (but a bit on the thirsty side).
