The 4 and V6 are part of the same family of engines - sharing the same internal configuration once you get beyond the obvious cylinder count and block configuration. Same thread diameter, same heat range, same electrode configuration, just a little bit different reach on account of whatever difference there is in the head manufacture. Could be a simple as a thicker combustion chamber wall on account of using a different material, or looking forward to the current high power 3.6 Turbo Cadillac engine. Usually the plug nomenclature contains some obscure internal code that signifies all of the above. NGK's nubmers are also similar, although a little more differentiated - PLFR6C (V-6) vs PFR6T (I-4). I think it's safe to say that the "L" means "longer".
