I would agree with your reliability observation. As much as I badmouth GM for orphaning SAAB, my 9-3s have been the most reliable SAABs I've owned in 30 yrs.
I also have learned from this site to treat the battery as a maintenance item and I replace mine every two yrs. It means I always have a couple of older batteries on Battery Tenders in the bullpen for when my daughter needs one for her 9-5s.
