Haven't seen any tonneau cover pistons go bad yet but a few 1st bow pistons starting to leak.
Not sure how much labor it is to replace but if they are hidden deep inside linkage it might be a bad idea to try with used ones.

They are about $600.00 each new so $1100.00 doesn't sound bad if that is installed.

There are some rebuilt options out there but it takes longer to get them so if you need it right away, you might have to go with that deal.
