Also happened to my wife's car Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 13 Jul 2017 03:07:25 In Reply to: Cabin air blower motor, Sondeen [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 12 Jul 2017 20:12:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
She told me about the problem saying the fan no longer worked. I drive the car occasionally and never noticed any intermittent operation of the fan prior to its total failure.
Does the fan operate consistently on HI speed? If so, then the problem is likely the fan speed controller. If the problem exists regardless of fan speed then it is likely the blower motor.
Make sure your car has the water baffle installed above the blower motor (a thin plastic tray you need to remove to replace the cabin filter) as earlier cars did not have this (although your '06 should).
Also be certain the filter rack has not come loose from the blower housing. A 3M windshield gasket material in rope form is recommended to reseal this joint.
Either of the above two will allow water to enter the fan chamber and shorten the life of the fan. No one wants to replace a blower motor only to have the problem re-appear a few months later. Been there and done that!
