For the past couple of weeks - while in motion - I've experienced a strange "flapping" noise which lasts about 5 seconds and seems to emanate from the glove box.

halfway down in the engine bay - directly in front of the glove box - there is a soft rubber bulb-like component with a flap on the end. I suspect this is the source of the strange noise but I've no idea what it could possibly be.

Any clues would be most welcome!
