New front turn signal lamp socket-ring arrived this morning Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 28 Dec 2018 06:42:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Temps will be in the 60's here in the Detroit area today. Perfect temps for replacing this socket-ring from the back-side (after removing the air cleaner box), thus eliminating the need to drop the front fascia and extract the entire lamp bucket.
Socket-ring seems to be the best descriptor for this part. The electrical connections from the wiring harness are made to the exterior of this plastic ring, and the lamp connections are made within the interior of the rings. Goofy design - in my opinion.
Two photos attached. The first shows the back side of the Socket-Ring. For reinsertion into the lamp bucket the large blade must be nearly vertical and the small bard (also marked with a triangle so this is NOT mold flash) should be positioned at the 1 o'clock position. At least for the passenger side.
The second photo is over-exposed but shows the corrosion/degradation at the center contact position which was the likely cause of intermittent turn signal faults.
