I have a 2008 9-3 convertible with the 4-cylinder engine. It's mostly fantastic. The motor is great. The main issue is with the valves. For a certain range of model numbers, the valve's metallurgy is wrong. The result is that they deform in cold weather when the car sits overnight. When this happens the car won't start in cold weather due to no compression. I had to have a >$2000 valve job to replace them, and the obvious deformation of them was badly impressive.
The other issue is the tonneau cover doesn't close completely. Here I have reasons to believe that it is with the top rather than the hydraulics. In a '97 900, it is pulled down by strong elastic straps. These rot and so the top doesn't drop all the way. The tonneau cover can't push down hard enough to lock in place.
A new issue is that the volume knob no longer controls the volume. I'm not sure if I can pull it off and electrically clean it.
