I was an idiot and had taken the sway bar link off as it needs replacing.
With it in place it was pretty easy following the WIS you just have to take the clamp bolt off the bottom of the hub that holds the lower ball joint. I did not try Jimmys suggestion and left the strut bolts alone.
Drove a wood wedge between the sway bar and the lower control arm and then a drove bunch of shims between the lower control arm and the outer drive shaft housing. And it popped out pretty easily. No risk of damaging the ball joint seal that way.
The drive shaft was pretty sticky in the hub but it there is plenty of room to get it out. I did remove the clips for the ABS wire and brake hose per the WIS.
I had a few goes at prying it out of the 5 speed transmission, with no success. Doing the LHS first.
Anyone have any tips or tricks for getting it out?
