Solved!! Wheel bearing, TCS Posted by Michel_DDO [Email] (#2328) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Michel_DDO) on Sat, 20 Jun 2020 20:34:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a SAAB 93 2006 Auto with 275 000 kms.
Had a noise/vibration on the highway and going right.
The noise like my wife says was like flying in a propelled airplane.
I changed the driver side wheel bearing but the noise remained.
Wanted to remove the passenger bearing but the axle was stuck in it and had to go to two garages after damaging my axle.
Changed the bearing myself afterward because the garage didn't want to install a part that he didn't buy (I understand that).
Now the noise/vibration is gone.
The bearing was as dry as a bone but had no play in it.
I had on another car the same problem but the noise wasn't the same at all.
I wasn't sure if it was my new winter tires (Nokian Nordman) because they are loud but when I changed to my summer tire the noise remained almost the same.
The strange thing is that my TCS warning light is gone also.
I had this problem 2 years ago but only in winter. During the summer I had no TCS light on. But since last summer the light came on to never came off.
Went to my SAAB mechanics and was told that my CIM was bad because it detected a 2 degree error in the steering angle and I was quoted $1000 for the job.
I had no CEL about it with my code reader. I guess my ABS was bad but had no warning light and no CEL about that also.
So a happy ending here and the car is running like a new one.
