Re: P0300 - update, 90% sure the problem was bad gas Posted by saabniner [Email] (#617) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabniner) on Mon, 28 Sep 2020 13:42:41 In Reply to: 2006 2.0 AT, 83,000 miles, throwing code P0300..............., saabniner [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 23 Sep 2020 08:45:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After troubleshooting ignition, vacuum etc., cleaning MAF, throttle body, I'm convinced the source was bad gasoline, since the car has been sitting mostly since the pandemic began early this year. Before a road test added fuel injector cleaner then first stop was to fill up (it only needed 1/4 tank). No misfire or check engine light during the half-hour drive. Suspect that since gas stations are selling much less fuel, much of it sits in their large underground tanks subject to condensation accumulating. A few more tanks of gas with no issues should be conclusive. BTW, the air inlet was firmly secure, no issue there.
