handbrake cable install issue

Installed new rear caliper (piston froze) and new handbrake cable (old cable would not release from old caliper). Installed new cable and rear tire is locked up. Handbrake adjustment is bottomed out. So basically the cable is too tight. Recent pads/rotors as well.
So what's my next step? Wait for pads to wear down? Stretch cable somehow?
Noticed cable ordered (Saab Genuine) but notched end at handbrake is metal where original was plastic. Part number on cable is 32022125. I ordered 12843729. Assuming previous #. Calipers are ATE 220569
Anyone have a similar issue?
