Many folks point to a possible bad ISM (Ignition Switch Module) as the reason for a battery drain after a few days. Attached is a picture which shows the internals of the ISM. There are three sliding switch contacts which interface with the control board based on key position. The most important is the LOCK position in which the white switch contacts can retract fully. Sometimes the center key lock plunger does not comes up fully when you remove the key. This may be caused by a number of things including dirt (likely) or broken plunger spring (not likely). If the white jumper contact does not fully retract it keeps the car control modules drawing power (they are still communicating with each other, drawing power. This makes it difficult understanding where the current draw is actually occurring. Also the white plastic horizontal cam slider which is moved by the plunger must be absolutely clean so it is not sticking as it moves.
