Yes, I think it’s possible.
The body shop I’ve used three times so far uses, I believe, a ‘spectrophotometer’ or similar computerized sampling technology which samples paint colors about the body to account for age-related changes to the paint and then mixes replacement paint accordingly.
We repaired a 2014 Power Blue Volvo S60 twice and the paint matches have been flawless. The first was at about 30K miles in 2017 for the driver’s side doors and rear quarter panel and the second was just completed at 208K miles and included a new front bumper and left fender and I also had them shoot the rear bumper. Absolutely perfect color match. We also had the rear bumper on our 2016 Magic Blue S60 painted in 2021 and the paint match, again, was exceptional.
The shop is Scandinavian Coach Craft in West LA.
