Just a heads up in this ongoing fight to find a working fuel pump.
The Hedin fuel pump alternative that comes with a different pulse valve that should be installed instead of the one mounted on the pump have its own flaws.

It does not stop fuel from backing off into tank. If you put your lips to the barbed fitting and suck, you will feel air getting through. This results in the very same scenario they talk about if you would leave the original pulse valve in there, with extended cranking after sitting a few hours.

If you know for sure that the bad pump you remove from the car is old genuine pump, you are better off using that pulse valve. When you do the "suck" test, you will see that no air escape through.

You are still advised to use that supplied valve if you don't have another option since something is also different on the high end pressure than the one installed and it could result in a Check Engine light.
