Got an ‘04 Aero SS. 157k. A/c has never been serviced, at least not since I got it at less that 50k.

Recently the compressor (I assume) is whining a little bit. I can tell it’s something in that system because when I turn the A/C off the noise immeditaly goes away.

You mentioned that some oil and freon can leak out over time. I have gauges to check the Freon but what about the oil? Should I just add some to be safe and hope it extends the compressor life?
