Did your mechanic check if the brake booster is torn within? If you have a Tech2, view live data at idle under menu "Total Fuel Correction" and look at airmass deviation from calculated. Ideal world, should be 0%, a bad booster can show 10-20%. Can smoke test the booster or unplug the brake booster vacuum line from the booster to see if it holds vacuum after shutting off the engine. Very common failure item on OG9-3 and 9-5s which also leads to positive crankcase pressure and excessive oil leaks (on automatic trans cars).
