I'd pulled it out this summer prior to buying an 00 9-3. Here's how that one came out:

Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, BMW 323i, Ford SVT Contour, Saab 9-3, Infiniti G20t, VW Jetta GLX

and the Mar 04 issue for $35K sports sedans runs:

Infiniti G35, BMW 325i, Acura TL, Lexus IS300, Audi A4 3.0, Saab 9-3 Arc, Jag X-Type 3.0

I thought it amusing that in 99 9-3 got dinged for "grippy" cloth seats and in 04 for slippery leather.

You can't take the C&D comparisons any more seriously than the ones in Consumer Reports <g>.
