The 8th digit in the VIN should tell you which engine. But someone who actually owns an '03 or '04 car has to help out here. I only know the engine code letters for '99-'02.
How about the actual engine?? Who can tell the difference by looking at the engine? It's the same block & head, same displacement... maybe the turbocharger is different??
I'm not aware of Saab installing the less-powerful engine, like they did in early-production-'99 SE cars.
