I have the Nokia CK-19 hands free adapter in my new 2004 9-3. I have been told that if your 9-3 did not come with OnStar, then you do not actually have a mike - per folks here on this list. Placebo stuff. Like the switches on the steering wheel for the phone - they only did one production run and we all get them. But no "pre-wiring". My cell phone installer put a small button on the dash and a mike on the front driver's side roof column. Pretty innocuous. Did I or do I care that I'm using a different speaker (hidden under the dash) and not the car's own mike - if there actually was one- and not using the radio's speaker? No. Form follows function. My car senses my bluetooth phone when I step into the car and turn the engine on. Then the phone switches profile, pairs and I do hands free dialing through voice activation. Hardware cost $300 installed, plus blue tooth phone and cell service. None of the local indy servicers for Saab wanted to get involved - nor for that matter the dealer.
Just one option. OnStar would have been the easy way. I'm tending to think this beats onstar's phone service and a PDA+GPS beats Onstar's maps. Emergency? Well, they got me there.
