My 2003 9-3 achieves up to 36.4 mpg according to the SID. It seems to gradually increase the longer you have been on the highway. For example, I have driven 1500 miles to texas twice. After 500 miles it is at about 31 mpg, after 1000 miles it finally gets to 36mpg. It seems to read a just a little higher than my mpg calculations when filling up. Maybe this can be attributed to the speedo reading higher speeds than actual speeds. Every portable radar display sign (ie -they put these signs up prior to entering a construction zone) shows my radar reading to be slower than my speedo by about 2-3 mph. I would assume the SID computes it's data from the same place the speedo receives it's data, but if not, maybe that is where any indiscrepency comes from.
