They eliminated the torque steer in a 9-3SS, they eliminated the inherent understeer two ways. First with the all aluminum engine, hood and suspension and brake components that makes a 9-3SS have about the same weight distribution as a C class Benz. And second the ReAxe passive rear wheel steering toes out the loaded outside rear wheel about 1-1.5mm to help point the nose into the corner.
So turn in and transisitions are razor sharp. The all aluminum suspension, hubs, and brake components, and hence low unsprung weight, give a ride quality, even with 17" rubber, that's unmatched.
If you think a heavy feel is what makes a car "controlable" you'll get plenty of that with a Benz or BMW. The Saab is much more nimble and agile with higher cornering limits and a much better ride.
