The bearings may be sealed but they are not sealed very well. Most of these die because the grease leaks out and then they overheat and chew up the plastic parts and take the belt along with them. I have had luck re-greasing the bearings and sealing them up with epoxy or silicon sealant. The outer edge of the bearing is most critical because the grease is thrown outward as the pulley rotates. You can open the bearing by carefully prying out the seal with a sharp pick. It's made of a soft metal surrounded by plastic.
