Boring models?! I bet they've never driven a Saab because boring is sure as hell not a word I would ever use to describe the Saab driving experience. I am sure GM will close a car plant with rumours it will be the Vauxhall plant at Ellesmere Port near Liverpool in the UK. GM Europe build a great range of cars - unlike the rubbish built in North America, Cadillac exempted - but it seems the likes of BMW and Audi are taking a lot of business in the "Golf class" of car these days which represent the bread-and-butter line for GM Europe. I reckon GM will go ahead with the Europe only new baby-Caddie which will be built at the Saab factory securing the future of the Saab factory in Sweden.
I really do think Saab needs a brand new premium small car for Europe along the lines of the BMW 1-series to help boost sales. The 9-3 seems to be doing quite well for itself but I do have one question - why does Saab not import the base 150bhp 1.8t to North America with a sticker price of just over USD21000 as I think it would sell and drag more people into the Saab family?
How it the 9-2X doing here in North America?
