Could PCV mod reversal cause CEL? (sorta' long)

Just got my '01 LPT wagon back after dealer did the new head gasket, the pcv mod was done a couple months ago. I haven't been driving the car for a while and it has 300 miles left on the warranty so perhaps I'm somewhat sensitive to problems. Driving home I notice an unusual noise with high boost. At idle there's quite a noise from the hose now relocated to the new nipple on the oil filler -- squeeze the hose stop the noise. Call the service rep and he confirms that it ok to make noise but research here suggests that I undo some of the pvc mod by relocating the hose to the valve cover fitting and move the cap to the oil filler nipple. Seems reasonable and I do that this afternoon. The noise seems to be gone but out on the highway I merge with enthusiasm and notice the boost goes into the red for a moment and the CEL comes on. Could swaping the hose and cap be at all responsible for the CEL? (sorry I haven't had a chance to get the code read) Could the dealer have left something undone when doing the HG that would fire the CEL? Or could there be something behind door number 3?
