Since in Saab's own warranty book they state that you only need to have proof that the required services were done, not that you had to do them at their dealer. all manufacturers head this policy since it is the law. They know darn well that they cannot insist that you use the dealer only that you must have the service done in compliance with their printed schedule and procedures.
If there were checks that needed to be done with a Tech 2 to keep the warranty in force, then you will be required to porve that you had those done. Since they know that every independent out thee does not have a tech 2, they could then rightfully ask you to prove that the service was done if you did not have the dealer's stamp in the warranty book. Personally,I do not think that is an unreasonable policy for them to take. I also find it hard to believe that they told you that the initial warranty claim on your 9-3 was due to it not having been dealer serviced. Is there more to this than you mentioned?
