Tom - thanks for your note. I spent some time in Boston years ago when my girlfriend (now wife) was in grad school. Loved the town, thought the drivers were nuts! (And I originally learned to drive in NYC...) How's the road salt situation up there? I don't think they use all that much in the DC area. Funny, everyone I talk to these days at Saab dealers seems to think that rusting problems with newer Saabs are not that bad if you wash them regularly during the winter.

One other thing I have to put into my decision: I can go look at the Aero that's near me, and the "transport" cost is zero. Just have to wait for a snowless stretch so that I can get it home and get the 16" steel wheels and Hakkas put on for the rest of the winter. The Boston car has no snow tires. It would cost me, by the time I'm done with getting there, etc., a couple of hundred $ to fly to Boston, get the car and drive it home. The dealer there doesn't sell Hakka snows, so that's not an option. Would have to wait a couple weeks to get it, when the Mass Pike and NYS Thruway are snow free.

The cost to have the Boston car shipped to me is about $680 via Intercity. I'd buy it right now if the Boston dealer would come down a bit in price, but he refuses to go lower than $20.7K, or $200 lower than his asking price.

I'm going to see the nearby Aero on Monday, at any rate.
