Thanks for your response. It was the #1 piston that had the meltdown. I had the cylinder head checked out by a machine shop and the cylinder head is ok. We've also come across several 9-5 owners that have had to replace the engine due to the same problem. The latest was a 2003 9-5 Aero with 45K - in that case 2 pistons had a meltdown #1 and #4. When are they going to find the cause of the piston meltdown, according to the parts people at a Saab Dealer they've gone through a lot of rebuilt engines. Don't you think this could also be related to the Turbo failure?
