Lets see I had a 2001 allroad that I bought when they first came out, traded it in after 1.5 years for an 02 aero sedan and also bought a 99 Viggen for fun. Now in 2005 just picked up a CPO 2004 mint allroad for a great deal.

My opinion is this:

If you really need AWD and don't care that much about gas mileage the allroad is a great car. I highly recommend the 6spd. My first was the Tiptronic and I hated it - I mean hated it - if you read audiworld enough you will see similar thoughts. the 6spd is excellent. The 9-5 aero has a good manual tranny, but probably has one of the best slushboxes on the market bar none. Very responsive for a 4cyl Turbo.

I really debated this one - I almost got a 9-5 aero wagon over the allroad, but chose allroad this time around. The gas mileage sucks, but the car is awesome - very comfortable, very capable, top-notch interior, and has a cool and unique factor much like the Saab.

I chose to buy a very low mileage CPO allroad over new for the 100K warranty. The warranty is key with the allroad as it can be hit or miss with problems. I always felt like the 9-5 was easy to work on, but the allroad has a lot of fancy features that can break and be costly.

Email me if you want or check out the allroad board on audiworld.

Good luck!
