Saab maintenance.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 3 Mar 2005 03:36:41 In Reply to: Re: V6 = timing belt; 4-cyl = timing chain, wayne, Wed, 2 Mar 2005 20:31:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I believe you asked where the high priced maintenance would occur, or what these items are. Saabs require a major Preventive Maintenance service at 60,000 mile intervals. I self performed this on my car at 60,000 miles and again at 120,000 miles. Cost to D-I-Y is around $150 but it pretty much requires a full day - nothing overly difficult, but time consuming. Time costs money in a Dealership Service Dept, around $100/hour currently, so these PM service intervals cost nearly $1,000 when done by a Dealer (less if done by an indieendent Saab mechanic).
The 50K vehicle is rapidly approaching this PM service, the 32K will take much longer to get there. If not a D-I-Y owner, you should include this future service cost in you vehicle-to-vehicle comparison.
Saabs are great cars! Best vehicle I've ever owned.
