It CAN be done, and it is exactly the kind of work the Monster Cable does. And if 5 million people were write them expressing an interest they would do it. They would reverse engineer the Cd-changer connection and make a piece of electronics that would look to the car as a CD chager (would even accept the steering wheels controls) but connect to an iPod instead.
The only problem is that Saab stereos are too complex when it comes to connecting a CD changer (compared to other cars) and there are just no so many Saabs in the world. It is just not feasible economically - they will never make a profit. Writing to them is a right idea to convince them to make the it, but it is a loosing battle in my opinion.
Companies like Monster cable usually work with car manufactures that do not over-engineer their stereos. Most headunits on the market use one of just a few "pseudo-standard" protocols, like those developed by Clarion, Pioneer, etc. That was the case with Saab 9000 (which would work with off-the-shelf Clarion Cd-Changers) but is not the case with 9-5. By making a Clarion compatible adapter the Monster cable will immediately cover a market that is tens (if not hundreds) times more than the Saab 9-5 can provide.
The 9-5 was designed with a purpose to make you spend as much money as possible at a Saab dealer. But they have overdone themselves - it is co complex now that they cannot even offer a satellite radio or an iPod adapter.
